Brooks, Ga

Idyllic Brooks was first settled in 1820 on, what was at the time, Creek Indian land. Brooks was officially incorporated in 1905.  Primarily a cotton farming town, after WWII cattle production took over the cotton fields.  Downtown Brooks was the location of the Mask and Gay Food Products plant which made a mighty fine Brunswick stew.  Brooks has grown along with Fayette County and now boasts a population of 600.  The City purchased the United Methodist Church when the congregation decided to move to a bigger home on the outskirts of town.  The building, built in 1910, is now called Brooks Chapel is the primary location for Red Clay’s Saturday line up.
